Writing a diary is part of the recount text. In the writing process, students can involve interesting or memorable experiences by including a gradation of feelings in the text. Students practice thinking in the real context of the recount text in the use of diaries, which indirectly teaches them to write coherently without the burden of text structure. Students will be aware of parts of the text by involving personal experiences that are highly structured in the sentences in the story.

To make it easier for students to write well, these are the language features of recount text:

  1. Use simple past tense form to make story and add adverb of time in past. for example yesterday, last week, last month, last year
  2. Choose one specific object to make it story based on your experience
  3. Introduce personal participant of story
  4. Use action verb in past form, with ending -ed or irregular verb
  5. Add chronological connection like then, after that, first, at last, finally
  6. And also use conjunction (and, but, or, so)
  7. Use adverb of degree to complete gradation of feeling in reorientation. You must tell reader about your feeling in the end of your story and make it conclusion
  8. Complete and correction of diary with WH and How question, all answer in your story

This is the example of diary, and now…. make your own story
